Price second-hand clothes without trusting an AI guess

By Turbo List · Published 5 November 2026 · Illustrative examples

A suggested price is a starting point, not an appraisal. Turbo List does not retrieve live sold listings or authenticate items. You need your own comparisons to decide whether an estimate makes sense for your garment, marketplace and currency.

Compare like with like

Choose comparable items with the same brand, garment type and similar condition. Match size, material and any distinctive feature when possible. A new item with tags is not a direct comparison for a worn one; a bundle price is not the price of one piece. Exclude listings with unclear condition or a different quantity.

Search your marketplace's current help and interface for sold or completed results where they are available. An asking price shows what a seller wants, not what a buyer paid. Even completed results can be imperfect comparisons: offers, delivery costs and local demand may change the real transaction.

  • Use several comparable items, not one unusually high listing.
  • Separate sold results from active asking prices.
  • Keep the same currency throughout the comparison.
  • Note wear, tags, size and included accessories.
  • Check current platform fees rather than assuming they are unchanged.

Build a small worksheet

Record the comparable item, condition, displayed price, delivery charge and whether the figure is sold or asking. Then decide your target and lowest acceptable outcome. The worksheet below is hypothetical arithmetic, not market research or a recommendation for a particular brand.

Illustrative worksheet in EUR: Comparable A: sold at €18, similar wear. Comparable B: asking €30, better condition; not evidence of a sale. Comparable C: sold at €22, same size. Your test asking price: €23. If an offer is €20 and your own packaging costs €1, €19 remains before any applicable platform charges or taxes. Check the actual charges separately.

Do not confuse a range with a currency conversion

The generator currently displays euro-style price suggestions. It does not automatically convert them into a verified local-market price. If you sell in pounds, dollars or another currency, check prices in that marketplace rather than copying the displayed number with a different currency symbol.

Speed and price can trade off, but neither is guaranteed. If a listing gets no interest, first review its photos, measurements, condition wording and category. A lower price cannot repair a misleading description. Change one thing at a time so you know what you tested.

Know when not to rely on a photo estimate

Designer authentication, collectibles, rare editions and damaged items can require specialist knowledge. A model recognising a logo is not proof that an item is genuine. Do not use an AI estimate as insurance, tax or investment valuation advice.

Before publishing, confirm your price, currency, shipping choices and mandatory platform fields. Keep negotiations and payment inside the marketplace's approved flow and read its current rules. Turbo List is an independent drafting tool, not a marketplace or payment service.
